Mobility
Mobility is one of the major responsibilities of local or regional governments across Europe. A comprehensive and inclusive transport system is essential for sustainable urban development, as well as to address environmental, economic and social issues.
While the European Green Deal aims to reduce transport emissions by 90% by 2050, most of our towns face increasing congestion and pollution due to rising car usage. Therefore, getting transport planning and policy right at local and regional level is crucial to address all citizens’ needs. CEMR works with the European Commission and specialist networks such as POLIS to develop innovative and sustainable transport policies.
The CEMR expert group for mobility monitors EU mobility issues and influences European bodies to better take into account the needs of local and regional governments.
