The Black Sea city of Varna wins European Youth Capital 2017 bid Bulgaria’s city of Varna is to be the European Youth Capital (EYC) in 2017, a jury panel announced on 19 November 2014. With a population of approximately 340,000, Varna has a large number of young people - around 158,000 under the age of 35.
