Call for Project Proposals
CEMR is excited to announce the launch of a call for project proposals to enhance Twinning activities among its member associations.
This initiative, part of the REALISE project funded by the European Commission, seeks to promote collaboration, share best practices, and address challenges faced by local and regional governments across Europe.

The CERV programme is the biggest EU fund ever available for promoting and protecting EU rights and values (1.55 billion over 7 years). Together with the Justice programme (305 million euro over 7 years), it contributes to build a Union of Justice, Rights and Values. -

The France-Ukraine Local Solidarity Forum: Together we are stronger!
On the 19th October, more than 100 participants took part in the Local Solidarity Forum jointly organised by the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR), PLATFORMA, Association of French Mayors (AMF) and the U-LEAD with Europe Programme.
Twinning and partnerships between Local and Regional Governments were at the centre of the discussions. Cooperation is the only way for the Ukrainian reconstruction.

Twinning has to be a part of Ukraine’s reconstruction
In a letter to the president of the European Parliament, the Council and the Commission, CEMR calls on the European institutions to set up an initiative to strengthen twinning for the reconstruction of Ukraine.
The letter is signed by the Mayor of Kiev and President of the Association of Ukrainian Cities (AUC), Vitaliy Klitschko, its Executive Director, Oleksandr Slobozhan, but also by CEMR's President, Stefano Bonaccini, and its Secretary General, Fabrizio Rossi.
It stresses the willingness of local and regional governments across Europe to contribute to the reconstruction of Ukrainian municipalities and cities. It also invites the institutions to define, in collaboration with CEMR and its Ukrainian association, “strategic and operational aspects of a twinning initiative to launch and implement the reconstruction of Ukrainian cities and towns »

TWINT 2020 - 05.11.2020
Take part in the Online Town Twinning Summit!
The International Online Town Twinning Summit (TWINT) is taking place on 12 and 13 November. This great event will bring together local authorities, policymakers, international networks, European associations of local authorities, and many more players to look for new ways to create sustainable cities.

A new grant scheme has been launched to develop town twinning between local governments in the EU and in Turkey. An information meeting will take place on 8 February in Brussels. -

First projects selected for the “Europe for Citizens” programme
A total of 188 town-twinning projects will be supported by a sum of €2 876 000 (on average €15 297 each project) within the framework of the “Europe for Citizens” programme for the period 2014 – 2020.

CEMR's town twinning website gets a brand new look
Minor graphic changes have been made to the www.twinning.org website, including the use of CEMR's "governance" blue and of its five-colour logo. These updates fall within the scope of the implementation of the visual identity guidelines adopted by CEMR in 2012. No changes were made to the content.
